What If Your Business Was Never About You?

We often talk about building businesses, creating value, and changing the world. But let’s pause for a bit. What if it was never about you?
God is not against business. In fact, He wants us to do business. Because in truth, business isn’t just about profit or goods. It's about souls. That’s why Jesus asked, “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”
That’s business language: profit, gain, and loss, but with an eternal twist. It means there’s something more valuable than success, influence, or even the world itself: the salvation of souls.
God is in business with men. So is the devil. Both are after one thing: dominion over souls. The difference is whom you’re partnering with.
Scriptures says that whoever shall save his life shall lose it and whosoever loses his life for Christ's sake shall save it unto everlasting life.
This shows that there's a false sense of “having” which will eventually culminate to losing. While there's one in which it looks like loss, but in the end it amounts to great profit.
When you understand this, your perspective changes. You stop seeing your business as a hustle, and start seeing it as a platform for God’s expression. Because God wants to fill all things, including your business. He wants to be seen in your ideas, your systems, your products, and your principles. He wants your business culture to mirror heaven’s. When people interact with your work, they should feel something of His nature: peace, excellence, truth, light.
If God doesn’t fill it, something else will. And if your business doesn’t express Him, it will eventually crumble, because only what’s built on Him lasts beyond time.
So build with God. Let your boardroom be an altar. Let your strategy sessions be led by His Spirit. Let your profit serve His purpose.
Agreed, this is not an easy task, and it largely involves you building according to heaven's template (as we discussed in previous posts) and staying true and unwavering in what God has commanded you to do despite wars and persecutions.
You will need to set up an altar for God in your business and regularly call upon the name of the Lord. This will cause Him to fill everywhere without hindrance and this in turn causes God to be expressed unhindered in your business.
Because in the end, it’s not just about visibility, influence, or legacy. It’s about Jesus filling all things, even your business.
