What you hear can shape your next step of faith and even alter the entire course of your life. Why? Because words don’t just disappear after we hear them. They sink into our subconscious. Eventually, they replay in our words, our decisions, and even our lifestyle, sometimes without us realizing it.
The Scriptures remind us of “that which we have heard, the Word of life.” We engage with words through sound all the time. We listen to conversations, audio messages, music, and sermons. God knows why He gave us hearing. It's a dimension of life. But here’s the catch: just as faith comes by hearing, fear, doubt, and compromise also come by hearing. That means the voice you allow into your ears has the power to shape your destiny.
What you hear has a way of encouraging you to continue and persevere or altering your from the right path. God asked Eve, “Who told you…?” She heard what she wasn’t meant to hear.
That's why you must filter what you hear. Isn’t it interesting that we can close our eyes with our eyelids, but our ears cannot be closed? What do we do then?
The answer is simple but intentional: filter what you hear. Surround yourself with good sounds: music, teachings and conversations that build your faith and draw you closer to God. Always condition your atmosphere so that your hearing fuels your purpose instead of weakening it.
